The Peers in Schools Programme is part of the House of Lords outreach work, which aims to raise awareness of the Lords and encourage people to get involved in its work. Chris undertakes many visits to schools around the UK to talk to them about his work in the House of Lords and the House of Lords more generally. To arrange a visit from a House of Lords member to your school or sixth form college, contact the Lord Speaker’s office on 020 7219 6444 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Chris really enjoys the opportunity to visit schools and talk to young people about his work in the Lords. In March 2017 he visited the Thomas Alleyne Academy in Stevenage, where he talked to Year 10 students about his personal life and gave a special message to all: ‘Aim high, stay focused and you will realise your ambitions.’ The school reported that he made a strong impression on the students who were able to ask lots of questions about his work in Parliament and his experiences as a Paralympic swimmer.
